Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is well-known for her stellar roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano won her an Oscar. In her early years she began performing on stage in a number of Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. From her early years she's always been enthusiastic about acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school production. The mumps that she contracted left her blind and deaf in one ear, but she didn't let this to stop her from becoming an actor. When she was a teenager, she was a drama student in college and moved into New York City from Pittsburgh so that she could achieve her goals. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in a lift. Together, they wrote Broadway Crimes of the Heart. This was Hunter's acting debut. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. She landed one as an actress who played the leading character Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in numerous films and TV movies and series throughout a span of over three decades. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame famous person and she has won Women in Film Lucy Award.
